Introduction 

The team at The Gospel Whiskey has one mission – to “reimagine this original American spirit using 100% Australian Rye”. The Gospel Distillery, located in Coburg North, Melbourne, are Australia’s only dedicated rye whiskey distillery. They pride themselves on making whiskey from 100% local grain, sourced from the Mallee River regional in South Australia, and aged in virgin American Oak barrels.

The Gospel Whiskey has been featured in well-renowned publications such as The New York Times, Goodfood, Broadsheet, and the Financial Times, and tasted and reviewed by Luke McCarthy from Oz Whiskey Review, world renowned whisky critic Dave Broom.

Background

The Gospel Whiskey is Australia’s largest independent whiskey brand.  With distribution across 17 countries as well as nationally across Australia, the previous site they occupied was no longer suitable for their ever-growing needs.  The new project allowed for increased capacity and improved automation, which in turn reduced the number of man-hours required to operate the site.

The project was designed, project managed and largely constructed by The Gospel, who has completed multiple distillery projects. The key challenge faced with the new project was the need for a quick turn-around due to late access to the site from the landlord.

With late access and tight budgets, the company needed a system that was adaptable and quick to install.

Solution & Results

The Gospel Whiskey team contracted Ibex Australia to utilise their range of 304L Express Stainless Steel Press Fit. They were impressed with the quality and efficiency of stainless steel press fit, as it reduced the need for onsite specialised welding requirements. Ibex’s 304L Express press fit range was used for the condensate return lines as well as still feed pining on a previous distillery builds, and they were thrilled with the efficiency and adaptiveness of the press fit product. Site run piping was a necessity due to the self-build nature of the project and limited timeline and budget.
